Many people try meditation and give up, believing they’re ‘doing it wrong’ because their mind won’t stop thinking. But meditation isn’t about stopping thoughts—it’s about changing your relationship with them.
The goal isn’t to achieve a perfectly blank mind. It’s to notice when your attention has wandered and gently bring it back. This process of noticing and returning is the practice itself.
Start small. Really small. Two minutes is better than zero minutes. Consistency matters more than duration. Once the habit is established, you can gradually extend your practice.
Create a dedicated space for meditation, even if it’s just a cushion in the corner of a room. This physical anchor helps signal to your mind and body that it’s time to turn inward.
Be patient with yourself. Some days your mind will feel calm, other days it will feel like a hurricane. Both are okay. The practice is showing up regardless of what you find there.
